UX Story

Academic Final Project

In 2019-2020, as a UX/UI student, I created my final project, born from a personal pain point.
I approached it as if it were a market-ready app, investing in extensive research, drafts, wireframes, my own artwork with Procreate, and the UI.
Despite being a junior designer at the time, my UI skills have improved over the years. While this may not be my best work, I’m proud of this project and eager to share it.

The Pain Point

Long lines at the coffee stand in the morning often force you to skip your beloved cup of coffee. Being late for work, you can’t afford the wait, and there’s no guarantee your order will be correct.

Our Solution

Picture an app that lists nearby cafes, allowing you to order your favorite coffee with one tap. No lines, no mistakes – just your coffee, ready when you arrive.

The Survey

In order to find out which features are essentials for the app and what is the scale of the audience, I ran a survey and hand it to more than to 300 participants to fill-up.

Q1: Do you consider yourself addicted to coffee?

It turned out that 40% drink 1-2 cups of coffee a day
and 30% drink at least 3 cups of coffee a day.
From that we can conclude that 70% of the participants are coffee consumers, which drink at least 1 cup a day.
They are, of course, the app’s audience.

70%
are drinking at least one cup of coffee a day!

Q2: Will you add more products to your order if offered during ordering?

Sometimes!

Nearly half of the participants mentioned that they would consider adding a product to their order only if the barista suggested it during the interaction.

let’s now shift our focus to whether baristas commonly make such suggestions:

Once again, sometimes!

Baristas sometimes offer to add a product to the order, indicating a likelihood of less than 50% for upsell opportunities.

In contrast, our app ensures a 100% upsell suggestion rate, promising businesses better revenue.

Colors & Fonts

Colors

Main CTA Button

I understood the importance of making the CTA button noticeable compared to the app’s color scheme. So, I went with a shade of green that matched the brown theme but was distinct enough to signal to users that it’s a significant action.

Monochromatic Color Scheme

For the app’s user interface, I aimed to create a cozy and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere reminiscent of a charming café. To achieve this ambiance, I carefully selected a monochromatic color scheme centered around warm shades of brown and beige.
